YOUR REMOTE INTERNSHIP
Students then receive their remote internship assignment pairing them with a company operating internationally and located primarily in Asia but also in other regions as needed.
Throughout the following 8-week remote internship, the student is directly involved in multiple business-driven activities aligned to the company vision, mission, and values. Within the internship, students are exposed to a wide-variety of professional tasks and experiences which are limited only by the nature of remote online learning, virtual engagement, and distance collaboration.
To succeed in their remote internship, students must show adaptability and flexibility in their interactions with the host-site supervisor and extended colleagues.
They must appreciate the context and cultural setting in which the daily business functions and activities take place at the host organization.
Internship activities and projects vary widely from company to company and from sector to sector.
Past NexStep students have however been directly engaged in remote project-based work such as:
- Market research
- Marketing strategy
- New product development
- Document review and editing
- Resource collection and cataloging
- Investment analysis
- Community management
- Software development
- Social media and external relations
- Talent sourcing
Whatever the work or activity assigned to the student, the host-company understands that the fundamental purpose of the remote internship is educational: i.e., engaging the student in both host-company projects and co-worker teams that, together, contribute to the student’s ongoing personal and professional development in line with the student’s academic major and desired career goals. While the student is simultaneously engaged in advancing the company’s business objectives remotely, the NexStep syllabus provides a parallel structure and process for ensuring that students also advance in their own personal, professional, and academic goals.
